Lola Rose Chapman: Essence of Place
Mae sensitifrwydd dwfn i’w hamgylchedd yn sylfaenol i waith Lola , ac yn yr arddangosfa hon mae’n archwilio tirwedd fel deialog sy’n esblygu rhwng canfyddiad, emosiwn a lle.
Cwrdd yr Artist ddydd Sadwrn 7 Mawrth 1-3yp
Mae Lola’n gwahodd gwylwyr i deimlo curiad byw y dirwedd Gymreig, gan droi ymdeimlad yn lliw, symudiad a ffurf. Mae pob darlun yn deillio o’i chyswllt agos â thir Gorllewin Cymru – y tywydd cyfnewidiol, yr awyr fawr a’r goleuni symudol. Yn hytrach na dangos golygfeydd mae hi’n creu profiadau: munudau o ymgolli lle mae atgof, awyrgylch a’r materol yn dod at ei gilydd.
Mae ei phaentiadau’n ymagor trwy symudiad greddfol ac ystum llifol, yn dal yr hyn sy’n deimladwy, nid yn weladwy. Mae marciau’n cael eu gosod yn haenau, eu toddi a’u hail ddiffinio nes eu bod yn adleisio llonyddwch eang neu ynni gwyllt y tir ei hun. Mae’r gwaith sy’n deillio o hyn yn hofran mewn gofod rhwng haniaeth ac adnabyddiaeth, gan gyfleu agosatrwydd lle a dibendrawdod amgyffred ar yr un pryd.

Meet the Artists Saturday 7 March 1-3pm
Oriel Canfas Cardigan SA43 1HY
Exhibition Runs 28 Feb- 28 March
Oriel Canfas Gallery continues its dynamic program with three vibrant solo exhibitions this March to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD). As part of the 2026 IWD campaign ‘Give to Gain’, Canfas joins forces with gallery TEN Cardiff, to host ‘LIFE LINES’ a major exhibition of paintings by Annie Morgan- Suganami being held in the main space of the gallery. In the upstairs galleries we present Lola Rose Chapman’s ‘Essence of Place’ a solo show of new abstract landscapes inspired by West Wales, and we introduce artist Dottie-may Aston whose exhibition ‘Excuse Me?’ weaves self-portraiture with contemporary life and old whimsical tales.
‘It's a real pleasure to collaborate on this exhibition - a partnership that stems from a shared conviction between Canfas and TEN that galleries exist to support the arts and to uplift the artists of our country,” says TEN’s Cat Gardiner
Annie Morgan Suganami sings with Sue Jones-Davies at 2pm. Raising money for Enfys Aberystwyth, a specialist resource base for autistic children at Ysgol Llwyn Yr Eos.
Many remember Sue as the character Judith Iscariot in Monty Python's 1979 Life of Brian. The town of Aberystwyth banned the film on its release until Sue was elected mayor there in 2008. Sue will be singing a cappella with longtime friend Annie raising money for Enfys Aberystwyth.
Song set includes:
