Suzanne Lanchbury
“I usually work on several pieces at once letting the ideas flow between the work as though they’re part of the same conversation”
Suzanne Lanchbury is a ceramic artist who creates a deeply personal world of figurative sculptures. Working from her studio in rural West Wales, hers is a landscape of storytellers and daydreamers. Suzanne can usually be found working on several pieces alongside each other, sometimes consciously on a theme but just as likely intuitively creating. The ideas flow between the work and are constantly evolving and informing each other. Her characters externalise her inner exploration with hybrid creatures sometimes allowing both narrative and a darker side to show through. She often only gains further insight into their meaning after the work is complete. Whether curious, soulful or playful, her figures portray emotion and invite you to wonder at the world they inhabit.
