Sam Ferguson-Ross

  • Biography

Raised in Cumbria and now based in Wales, Samuel is a maker whose practice spans garden design, placemaking, hand-carved sculpture, furniture, and analogue photography. Rooted in the simplicity and solitude of the natural world, his work explores the relationship between a lived in landscape and stillness.

His analogue photography seeks out moments that feel untethered by time—images that could have been captured today or centuries ago.

Samuel is one half of the craft duo Ferguson-Ross Studio, where he works alongside his wife across a diverse range of craft practices. Together, their collaborative work explores heritage crafts through the making of grass-woven furniture, including lipwork and straw-backed chair making, adapting traditional techniques for contemporary practice.
