Jon Pountney
“My eyes are always open and I see every new place as an exploration, somewhere to try and tap into.”
Jon Pountney's work is the result of years of deep engagement with photography, reflecting on his evolving role as an artist within the medium. He creates art to communicate his sense of wonder, exploring themes influenced by his interest in people, place, and history. Jon does not see himself merely as a spectator but often becomes a part of the communities that shape his practice. He is driven by storytelling, using both still and moving imagery to convey his narratives. His close connection with his subjects allows him to bring credibility and an empathetic perspective to his work. Since leaving education, Pountney has worked on a diverse range of self-initiated and collaborative projects, from artist residencies to a documentary commissioned and broadcast by the BBC.
