Ceri H. Pritchard
“I search for ways to express the enigmatic, fleeting experience of contemporary life and especially the conflicting sensations of humour and anxiety, logic and absurdity, or order and chaos.”
Ceri H Pritchard is a Welsh painter whose work explores ideas that originate both consciously and unconsciously. Drawing equally from man-made and natural worlds, he builds a distinctive visual language juxtaposing the familiar with the out of the ordinary, creating surreal deviations from the world we know. The son of renowned Welsh artists Gwilym Prichard and Claudia Williams, Ceri studied at the Liverpool School of Art before continuing on to St Martins School of Art in London. He has travelled widely, living and working in New York, Berlin, Paris, and Mexico with each country providing a wealth of diverse influences. In addition to painting, Ceri works with sound, video, and sculpture, extending his exploration of image and form across multiple media. He has exhibited extensively both in his native homeland and internationally, building a reputation for bold, psychologically charged work.
