Pierre Williams

Biography
"My struggle to be an artist is not just a mental, but physical one, when I had to work at other jobs to allow me to pursue my dreams."
For Pierre Williams, art has been the central thread of his life, evolving from drawings at an early stage and moving into complex ceramics and large oil paintings later in life.  Having originally trained as a Development Engineer, Pierre’s commitment to his artistic practice eventually led him to a ceramics degree in Cardiff, where academic study deepened both technical skill and critical understanding.  After graduating, he began building an extensive career in arts education, first running the ceramic department at Hereford College of Art and then moving into a specialist teaching role at the Royal National College for the Blind.  With his engineering mind he developed a direct, problem-solving approach to his artistic practice while also being greatly influenced by the students he was teaching, but it has always been the forms of classical sculpture which have provided a structured foundation for Pierre’s work.
