Lola Rose Chapman
"My works are not pictures of places but rather the atmosphere and essence of a place made physical."
Lola Rose Chapman is a West Wales-based artist whose practice is deeply rooted in the landscapes of her native Ceredigion. Rather than creating straightforward pictorial representations, Lola’s work seeks to physically capture the atmosphere and essence of a place, allowing the emotional resonance of the landscape to shape the painting. Her process is highly spontaneous and instinctive, with fluid brush strokes and dynamic marks emerging from direct engagement with her environment. This approach gives her paintings a sense of expansiveness and limitless space. Her work exemplifies her ability to balance abstraction and recognition— hovering at the threshold between form and formlessness, evoking shifting skies, distant horizons, and fleeting moods, always inviting the viewer to participate in the unfolding experience.
