Glenn Carney
"As an avowed colourist, I instinctively use rich and resonant hues, trying to evoke emotion and memory."
Glenn Carney is a self-taught painter from South Wales whose work often revisits similar themes, aiming to recapture the emotion and meaning of places he has visited. Autumn and winter settings dominate Glenn’s art, reflecting how he is drawn to more exposed landscapes and the search for beauty within decay. A colourist by instinct, Glenn creates landscapes and still lifes in oil, acrylic, or egg tempera, using colour to convey emotion. He frequently revisits regions in the west of England and Wales, carrying away mental impressions to paint later. His still lifes, often seasonal, express happiness and optimism—particularly his bold flower studies. For Glenn, painting is both a record of meaning and a gift shared when others find joy in his work.
