Kate Seymour
“When I paint animals I try to capture the subtle tensions within them, alongside a watchful stillness. They do not pose – they are there on their own terms”
Kate Seymour’s art acknowledges a quiet connection between animals and people.
Her use of shape and colour creates compositions based on observation, sensitivity and exploration.
She mainly paints in oils, creating layers to build depth and form.
Kate was brought up in a creative family in the sixties in West Wales, where she learnt to draw as soon as she could hold a pencil in her hand, though it was much later on in life that she returned to art, studying at diploma level in Fine Art in 2012 in Australia.
Animals and the countryside have been a constant throughout her life.
