Colin Davies

After more than thirty years in education, former headteacher and professional artist Colin Davies left teaching in 2019 to pursue painting full-time. His work celebrates the drama and beauty of the Welsh landscape with all of its breathtaking scenery.  Using oils and acrylics, Colin combines palette knife and expressive brushwork to build richly textured, energetic compositions that balance power with serenity. Layers of paint and contrasting techniques capture both movement and stillness, echoing the changing moods of land and sea. Colin’s process is deeply intuitive, aiming to evoke the atmosphere and emotion of each scene, inviting viewers to feel the landscape’s energy firsthand. Colin’s paintings are exhibited in galleries across the UK and feature in international collections. Alongside his studio work, he teaches adult painting classes and demonstrates his techniques to art groups nationwide.
