Steve Wilson

Biography

Steve Wilson lives and works in his native Pembrokeshire, the area that is the source of his inspiration. He graduated from Canterbury School of Art in 1990 and has since worked as a self-employed artist, illustrator, designer, animator, and lecturer. The central theme of his paintings is landscape, where objects are simply arranged in minimalistic spaces to evoke calm and contemplation. His works are heavily layered, with glazes upon glazes, creating depth and intensity. Wilson has exhibited at prestigious venues, including the National Portrait Galleries in London and Edinburgh, The Royal Academy of Arts, and Mall Galleries. He has shown his work in private galleries such as Offer Waterman Gallery and Oriel Q, Pembrokeshire, among others. In January 2011, he received an Arts Council grant, leading to a new body of work exhibited in November 2012.
